Lynn Hackney is Elected President of DCBIA

  • Washington, DC, January 5, 2016 – The District of Columbia Building Industry Association (DCBIA) has unanimously elected Lynn Hackney as President for the 2016-18 term. She is the first woman to serve as President of the 44-year-old non-profit trade association representing the Washington, DC real estate development industry.

    A real estate industry insider for more than 25 years, Ms. Hackney is a Managing Partner of Allyson Capital, a development firm and capital provider based in Washington, DC and New York City. She also is the founder of Urban Pace, a Washington, DC-based real estate sales and marketing company.  

    “I congratulate Lynn on becoming the first woman president of DCBIA,” said Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser. “Lynn has made tremendous contributions to the city over the years, and I look forward to working with her in her new role.”

    “I am sincerely honored to be selected to serve as DCBIA’s new leader,” said Lynn. “We envision DCBIA growing membership while maintaining and enhancing our critical influence with key District stakeholders and our role as the go-to organization for the real estate building and development industry.”

    Ms. Hackney is a 2015 winner of Smart CEO’s Brava Awards, placing her among Washington’s most distinguished women business leaders. She also is a founding member of the Washington ULI (Urban Land Institute) Women’s Leadership Initiative, a board member of Capital Bank, and serves on the boards of two national nonprofit organizations.

    DCBIA’s incoming President holds a certificate from Harvard Business School, a master’s degree in business administration from Johns Hopkins University, and a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance from Virginia Commonwealth University. She resides in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, DC.
