Newton House Residences Sell Out in Four Months in Historic Meridian Hill Park Neighborhood

09.20.2019

(Washington, DC—September 20, 2019)  In just four months, the eight condominiums at Newton House in Washington’s historic Meridian Hill Park neighborhood have all sold, a testament to the desirability of this vibrant urban neighborhood and the quality of these unique residences.

“The market responded extremely well to Newton House because it offers urban living at its finest: premium residences that combine eye-catching modern design, convenient access to restaurants, shops and other amenities all within a rich historical context,” said Matt Dewey, Chief Operating Officer at Urban Pace.

Located at 1469 Florida Avenue NW, Newton House possesses the notable charm and character of the past, enhanced by modern flourishes. The one- and two-bedroom residences feature wide plank walnut flooring, Nest thermostats, custom light fixtures, satin white Corian counters in the kitchens and bathrooms, and floating vanities and Porcelanosa tile in the bathrooms. The condominiums ranged in price from $442,500 to $949,900 and had an average price per square foot of $827.

Newton House is situated on land once owned by Mary Newton Henderson. Known as “The Empress of Sixteenth Street,” Mary Foote Henderson (née Newton, from which the name Newton House is derived) was an author, activist, wife, mother and hospitality connoisseur who founded the community of Meridian Hill Park in 1912.

“Newton House is the true realization of Mary Newton Henderson’s passion for architectural design, and most importantly, her vision of community and a commitment to an alluring neighborhood,” said Patrick Bloomfield, Principal of PT Blooms who developed the project in conjunction with Warmington Oppenheim Development. “The rapid pace of sales reflects the success of an inspired and meticulously detailed elegance that is in keeping with the site’s history and Henderson’s legacy.”

“Mary Newton Henderson’s enduring sensibilities and her dedication to the community live on in an exceptional and beautiful new community that will be home to a new generation of visionaries,” Dewey added.
